Great Orchestras of Europe & London

  October 5 - 22, 2010   Length: 18 days
  7 CONCERTS in 18 DAYS!
Great Expeditions has prepared a memorable experience for music and culture enthusiasts. This 18-day tour will take you to performances by the top orchestras of continental Europe and London while delighting you with the stunning scenery, rich history and cultural traditions of central Europe.

Our tour begins in Berlin, Germany’s only international metropolis. We’ll have time to see all the main sights and do an excursion to Sanssouci Palace & Potsdam - an unforgettable trip into German history. The Berlin Philharmonic has played the leading role in Berlin’s musical life since its founding in 1882 and you will be transported by the astonishingly beautiful sound of the orchestra.

The next stop is the historic city of Leipzig where we will attend a concert by the historic Gewandhaus Orchestra. Leipzig is in the heart of Saxony and offers an opportunity to see some of the region’ s many medieval castles. We continue to picturesque Dresden, which recently celebrated its 800th birthday.

In the “Golden City” of Prague, we visit the rich collection of Gothic, baroque, and Renaissance buildings and attend a performance by the Czech Philharmonic. The delightful city of Munich is next on the itinerary and we are able to offer guests the opportunity of hearing two outstanding orchestras. We end our tour in London, a veritable utopia for music and culture enthusiasts.

Optional Extension:Guests have the option of extending their stay in London and attending the 80th Birthday Concert of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, on Friday Oct. 22. For anyone wanting to hear the amazing London Symphony Orchestra, their next concert takes place on Sunday, Oct. 24 and Great Expeditions would be happy to arrange tickets for you.
