ITINERARY

  • TOUR SCHEDULE (subject to minor change)
  • Wed. May 24: Berlin
    Arrival day in Berlin (depart Vancouver no later than Tuesday, May 23). Accommodation for three nights at the 4-star Wyndham Excelsior Hotel situated in the city centre of Berlin West, walking distance to the famous shopping boulevard, Kurfűrstendamm and close to major transportation. Enjoy a welcome reception this evening.
  • Thu. May 25: Berlin
    A morning city tour shows us some of the highlights of this city including the City Hall, Brandenburg Gate and entrance to Berlin Cathedral. This evening enjoy a Deutsche Opera performance of Giordano’s Andrea Chenier.
  • Fri. May 26: Berlin
    A half day tour to Potsdam and tour of the 18th century Sanssouci Palace, a perfect example of German rococo architecture built by Prussian King Frederick the Great. Evening performance of Verdi’s Don Carlo at the Staatsoper im Schiller Theatre.
  • Sat. May 27: Berlin – Dresden - Prague
    Morning departure to Dresden and a tour of the city, nicknamed “Florence on the Elbe”. Our walking tour of Altstadt (Old Town) shows us Zwinger Palace, the Church of Our Lady and Semper Opera House (a tour of the auditorium, vestibules and foyers is included, subject to rehearsal schedules). Continue to Prague and accommodation for four nights at the 4-star Hotel Beseda, located in the historic town centre, just steps from famous Wenceslas Square, in one of the most attractive areas of Prague.
  • Sun. May 28: Prague
    A morning tour shows us this “City of a Hundred Spires”. Visit 1,000 year old Hradcany Castle, the Old Town, see the Town Hall’s intricate 15th century Astronomical Clock and visit the Josefov Quarter to discover the city’s vibrant Jewish heritage.
  • Mon. May 29: Prague
    This morning we visit Karlštejn Castle, founded in 1348 by the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV as a home for his many royal treasures. This evening a performance of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro at the Theatre of the Estates.
  • Tue. May 30: Prague
    All day at leisure to enjoy the many sights of the city. Evening performance of Verdi’s Nabucco at the State Opera in Karlin.
  • Wed. May 31: Prague - Vienna
    Leave Prague this morning for Vienna. Enroute we stop in Český Krumlov. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is famous for its Old Town, with 300 protected medieval buildings, and its castle complex, the second largest in the Czech Republic. We stay four nights at the 5-star Le Meridien, located at the famous Ringstrasse in the heart of Vienna, close to the Opera House, Hofburg Palace, Imperial Palace and Schőnbrunn Castle.
  • Thu. June 1: Vienna
    A morning excursion shows us some of the many sights of Vienna and includes entrance to Schőnbrunn Palace. This evening enjoy a performance of Swan Lake.
  • Fri. June 2: Vienna
    Morning excursion to Melk Abbey, one of the most famous monasteries in the world. Previously the castle of Leopold II, it was given to the monks who transformed it into a place of tranquillity and learning in 1089. The impressive spiritual centre has become one of the greatest examples of Baroque architecture. Evening performance of Beethoven’s Fidelio.
  • Sat. June 3: Vienna
    Free day. Evening performance of Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier.
  • Sun. June 4: Departure day
    The tour ends after breakfast this morning
